As a part of counseling, from time to time we recommend reading assignments as 'homework' such was the case with the following suggestion of 'Her Choice To Heal' by Sydna Masse:
I cannot express my thanks enough for your help. I purchased the book you recommended my wife and I to read. Just prior to going to bed I started reading the book. I cannot even describe the emotional experience that followed. I could not put the book down and only did so when I knew that my wife was coming to bed. I could not sleep well and woke up several times to pray. I woke up early because I had to finish the book. I cried while reading the book on almost every page because there is not a single part of the book that did not relate to my wife. I also experienced a great deal of shame as God opened my eyes to the fact that most of my responses to my wife or attempts to help her probably inflicted more pain on her. I am embarrassed and ashamed that for all these years I have been angry that she "did not function" the way I thought she should. This book knocked me down to my knees with one message...."SHE CAN'T". After reading I am even more surprised that she even has any strength at all. But she does. I can see it. Please pray for us today and thank you for thinking of us and not letting us go. In reading the book I realize we may be in for a long journey to heal. Please pray that my wife will read the book. Please pray for her. Please pray for me. Please pray for our sons.

Counseling services are available by appointment only, Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday evening until 7:00 p.m. and Fridays by special arrangement.
