Statement of Faith

I.    About The Bible

Regarding the Bible: Composed of 66 books, both the Old Testament and New Testament books of the Bible were divinely revealed to man. It is the final authority for faith and

practice (Romans 10:17; 1 Thessalonians 4:1).

The complete Bible is inspired by God in the sense that it was not merely an “act of man’s will,” but it was God guiding human authors using their personalities and writing styles. These men recorded God’s complete and perfect revelation to mankind in their written words--in original form (II Peter 1:20-21;

II Timothy 3:16).

II.   About God

Regarding the Godhead. i.e., the Trinity: There is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4) who is spirit (John 4:24). He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

III.  About Jesus Christ

Regarding the Pre-Existence of Jesus: Jesus Christ exists eternally (John 1:1).  Before Jesus' birth as a human being, He existed as the eternal Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, and as co-equal with the Father (Hebrews 1:8;

John 17:5).

IV.  About the Holy Spirit

Regarding the Deity of the Spirit: The Holy Spirit is a person, not a mere influence of just God’s active force in the world (Matt. 28:19; Jn. 14:26).  Being the third person of the Trinity (in administration, not rank), He is fully and totally God and co-equal with the other members.  Attributes of God are described to Him (Rom. 8:2; Jn. 16:13); He does the work of God (Titus 3:5); and He receives honor due only to God.

V.   About Man's Relationship to God

Regarding Mankind's Beginning: God created man out of the soil and in His image--not a physical image, but a spiritual and rational likeness (Genesis 1:16-17; Genesis 2:7).

Regarding Personal Choice: People are born innocent, but with freedom of personal choice. Willfully and knowingly choosing to disobey God’s explicit commands results in a separation from God called “spiritual death.”  Physical and spiritual death are the result of sin

(Romans 6:23).

The Definition of Sin: Sin is selfishness and/or self-managing one's life apart from God (Romans 6:23).  From this, individual acts of disobedience, indifference, or unbelief occur (Romans 3:23; I John 1:9).

VI.  About Salvation from Sin

God’s Sovereignty in Grace: No one deserves God’s favor and love (Romans 3:10; Ephesians 2:8-9). All people deserve eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23).  God elected to save certain people from this separation from Him (Romans 9).  The paradox is that whoever comes to God [human will/choice]. No man can come unto the Father unless He draws him (John 6:37, 44).

The Steps in Salvation:  The sinner is convicted and aware of his/her sin (John 16:8-11).  Jesus Christ is the way God provides a solution for sin (John 14:6; II Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:8).  As the sinner expresses faith in Christ and His work of redemption, an individual is born anew (John 3). As he/she expresses "Jesus as Lord," the individual gets a new “landlord” for life (Rom. 10:9-10).

Regarding Justification: As a sinner accepts Jesus by faith as his/her personal Savior, the individual is at that moment justified or judicially declared to be righteous--based on Christ’s righteousness (Romans 5:1-2; II Corinthians 5:21).

Regarding Sanctification: Justification is what God does for us and in us. This is a ministry of the Holy Spirit.  Sanctification is what God does in us. Positionally, the individual is "set aside" for holiness. Practically, he/she is being set aside for holiness in manner and conduct (John 17:17; I Corinthians 6:11).

Regarding Glorification:  The final step of salvation is glorification.  This occurs at the moment the believer dies and immediately finds himself in the presence of the Lord.  He is given a glory like that of Christ’s (I Corinthians 15; I John 3:2).

Regarding Eternal Security: Once God makes us His son or daughter, we cannot be removed from the “family” because “by grace we are saved." Nothing can separate us from God's love (Romans 8:38-39; John 10:28).
